What activities are available around the Falls when staying at Taita?

No visit to Taita Falcon Lodge would be complete without experiencing some of the incredible activities on offer in the Victoria Falls / Livingstone area. 

Some activities are best booked prior to arrival, especially in peak season but most can be arranged during your stay. Contact our reservations team for a full price list as we can also recommend combinations that can be done in the same day to save on transfers.

Walking Tours of Victoria Falls (Zam Side)

Guided Tour of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park

Knife-Edge Bridge Walk

Feel the spray of the Falls as you cross the iconic Knife-Edge Bridge. This thrilling walk offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Main Falls, the Eastern Cataract, and the Boiling Pot. Don’t forget your raincoat!

Boiling Pot Hike

Descend into the gorge to the Boiling Pot, where the Zambezi River swirls and churns. This moderate hike provides an up-close view of the powerful currents and an opportunity to see the Victoria Falls Bridge from below.

Birding & Wildlife

The Zambian side of Victoria Falls is a haven for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Look out for a variety of bird species, including the rare Taita falcon, and catch glimpses of baboons, warthogs, and other wildlife.

Visits to Livingstone Island (Devil’s & Angel’s Pool)

Experience the Falls from a different perspective with a visit to Livingstone Island, the very spot where David Livingstone first viewed the Falls. Seasonal boat trips and swimming in the Devil’s Pool (available during low water levels) are unforgettable highlights of this tour.

Chobe Day Trips

Experience the incredible fauna and flora of Africa with a Chobe Day Trip, just 80km from Victoria Falls. Enjoy a game drive and a boat cruise in the world-renowned Chobe National Park, famous for its large elephant herds. During the dry season, up to 85,000 elephants gather along the Chobe River. Besides elephants, the park is home to lions, leopards, buffalo, antelope species, hippos, and some of Africa’s largest crocodiles.

This tour offers a fantastic opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes of Chobe National Park in a single day.

07:00 / 07:30 am

Guests will be picked up from their hotel, in a closed bus, and proceed on a 70km journey through the countryside to the Kazungula border. 

8:30 am

Arrival at the Kazungula Border, where guests will exit Zimbabwe/Zambia and enter Botswana. At the border guests will change vehicles and are met by their Botswana guide.

9:00 am - 12.30pm

Once guests have gone through Botswana immigration, they will take a short drive to Chobe Marina Lodge. Upon arrival at the hotel, guests will have a short bathroom break and will also be required to fill out the Park Entry form. Guests’ will then go on their first activity; either game drive or boat cruise. If guests would like to go on a specific activity first, then they should please specify

12:30 - 4:00 pm

Guests Return to the hotel for lunch. This will be served either a la carte or buffet style, with a selection of traditional and modern-day meals to choose from. They will then depart for guests’ second activity. This will be the activity of which guests will have not done yet. If guests did boat cruise in the morning, then they will do a game drive in the afternoon and vice versa.

4:00 - 5:30 pm

Return from the Park and head back to the Kazungula Border. Guests will meet their bus and are transported back to their hotel.

White Water Rafting on the Zambezi river

Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River

A sunset cruise on the Zambezi River is a must-do activity for visitors to Victoria Falls, offering a serene and picturesque way to end your day. As the sun sets over the majestic river, you’ll enjoy stunning views, abundant wildlife, and the soothing sounds of nature, all from the comfort of a boat.

Duration: Approximately 2-3 hours
Departure Time: Late afternoon, typically around 4:00 PM
