Activities on offer when visiting Taita

From free gorge walks and bike trails on the property to white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and day trips to Chobe — here's how to spend your time at Taita Falcon Lodge

Activities Available: On-Site, Victoria Falls & Day Trips

There's plenty to do without ever leaving the property, and just as much on offer a short drive away. Activities here fall into three groups: on-site activities, which are complimentary for fully inclusive guests; Victoria Falls activities, which are paid and pre-booked through our reservations team; and day trips, also pre-booked, for those with time to venture a little further.

A few of the activities which are on offer when visiting Taita

On-Site Activities (Complimentary: No need to pre-book.)

These are included for fully inclusive guests and can be arranged directly with the team once you're here.

Gorge Walks: Walk through indigenous forest and down 230m into the Batoka Gorge, right alongside the Zambezi's rapids. It's a proper leg-stretch, and one of the best ways to appreciate the scale of the gorge the lodge sits on.

Bicycle Trails: New this season: bikes are available to use around the property or take out on the trails that run along the edge of the escarpment. Ideal for exploring at your own pace, whether that's a short ride before breakfast or a longer outing along the gorge.

Complimentary On-Site Activities include: Gorge Walks, Bicycle Trails, Birding Walks

On-Site Activities (Additional Cost: Can be booked from the lodge.)

A couple of extras are available on-site at an additional cost, best arranged with the team once you've settled in.

Spa Treatments Selected treatments are offered through our recommended mobile spa therapist, who visits the lodge on request — a relaxed way to spend an afternoon between activities.

Cost: Starting from $50 pp (Treatment dependant)

Cultural Village Tour Visit the nearby village where most of our staff live. See the local clinic and school, get a sense of day-to-day life in the area, and browse locally made crafts, with the option to buy directly from the makers.

Cost: $10 per person
Duration: 1.5 hours

Complimentary On-Site Activities include: Gorge Walks, Bicycle Trails, Birding Walks

Victoria Falls Activities

These activities take place in and around Victoria Falls and Livingstone. Most can be arranged during your stay, but we'd recommend pre-booking in peak season — chat to our reservations team for current pricing, and ask about combining activities on the same day to save on transfers.

Walking Tours of Victoria Falls: Victoria Falls — known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, "The Smoke That Thunders" — is roughly 1.7km wide and around 108m high, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. A guided walking tour takes you along the falls themselves, with the spray visible from a considerable distance.

Devil's Pool & Livingstone Island: During the dry season, when water levels drop, a natural rock barrier makes it possible to swim right at the edge of the falls. A trip to Livingstone Island gets you as close to the edge as anyone can safely stand.

White Water Rafting: The Zambezi is widely rated one of the best white-water rafting rivers in the world, with Class 3–5 rapids broken up by calmer pools. Not your thing? The Taita deck is a fine spot to watch the rafters go by instead.

Bungee Jumping: Jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge, suspended between Zambia and Zimbabwe, with the Zambezi and the gorge below.

Helicopter Flights: See Victoria Falls from above on a helicopter flight up the Zambezi and past the Batoka Gorge. Choose between a 12–13 minute or 25–27 minute flight.

Sunset Cruises: A Zambezi River cruise timed for sunset, with onboard drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Choose the standard tour or the signature upper-deck experience — both come with the same views and quality service.

Some Vic Falls Activities include: Devils Pool, Helicopter flights, Sunset Cruises and more.

Day Trips (Pre-Booked)

For guests with an extra day to spare, these trips take you further afield.

Sukulu Reserve Rhino Experience: A half-day excursion to a private conservation reserve, restored over the past decade into a thriving sanctuary. The day includes a game drive, a picnic lunch, and a guided walking safari tracking rhino and buffalo on foot — culminating in close-range rhino feeding and sundowners over the bush.

Chobe Day Trip: A full-day excursion into Chobe National Park, known for its large elephant herds and game viewing along the Chobe River.
