The gorge hike
The Descent: Follow a winding trail down 230 meters through ancient indigenous forests of Mopane, Marula, and Leadwood trees.
The Destination: The hike culminates at the river’s edge near Rapids 16 and 17. Here, you can feel the immense power of the Zambezi and watch white-water rafters tackle the swirling currents up close.
The Challenge: The hike takes approximately 2 hours and requires a moderate level of fitness for the steep ascent back to the lodge—a rewarding climb that ends with a panoramic view of the chasm you just conquered.
Cost: FREE for in house guests
For Day Visitors:

Walking or Bike Trails along the top of the escarpment (5km – 10km)
If you prefer a gentler pace or want to keep your feet on level ground, our plateau walking trails offer spectacular "Eagle’s Eye" views without the steep descent.
The Route: These trails wind along the top of the escarpment, offering various vantage points to look down into the gorge.
Birding & Botany: Keep an eye out for the rare Taita Falcon, as well as Verreaux’s Eagles and Peregrine Falcons soaring on the thermals.

Safari Spa Rejuvenation
Selected treatments are offered through our recommended mobile spa therapist, who visits the lodge on request — a relaxed way to spend an afternoon between activities.
Treatments: Choose from full-body massages, tension-release treatments, or selected beauty therapies.
The Ambiance: There is no soundtrack more relaxing than the distant roar of the Zambezi and the afternoon calls of the Fish Eagle.
This experience is ONLY available for in house guests.

Unstructured Relaxation
The lodge is designed for "Slow Travel." You are invited to:
The Viewing Deck: Spend an afternoon with a pair of binoculars on our spacious deck, which towers directly over the river.
The Swimming Pool: Cool off in our pool, which is surrounded by indigenous gardens and offers a "green theme" retreat from the African sun.
The "Fat Sacks": Sink into our oversized bean bags in the lounge with a book, or simply watch the light change across the gorge walls as the sun sets.
