Taita Falcon is a secluded lodge set in the heart of Zambia, boasting spectacular views of the untouched wilderness that surrounds it.

About the camp

Back in 1994, during a walk to explore the East of the Falls on a late-summer's morning, Faan Fourie stumbled across a place like nothing he’d seen before. An untouched wilderness where the Zambezi had carved its way through the landscape, creating a place of dramatic beauty, downriver from the famous Victoria Falls. A year later and after much planning Faan and his wife Anmarie designed and built Taita to not only showcase the dramatic views that surrounded them, but so they could also share their piece of paradise with people from all over the world.

With its vast viewing platform, open-air bar and lounge perched over the sheer cliffs, it’s the perfect place to take in Zambia’s scenic vistas. Winding stone lined pathways lead the way through the grounds from the main lodge, bar, pool and boma area around to the secluded chalets.

If the weather permits most meals are served on the viewing deck which towers over the Batoka Gorge. In winter Mbola fires are lit in the indoor dining area. Dining at Taita consist of good home cooked food with an African twist. In the morning wake up to tea & coffee which is delivered to your chalet before heading down to breakfast which consists of a light buffet, homemade bread or muffins, followed by a cooked breakfast. If you’re not out exploring the area order lunch from the Taita menu where light and delicious dishes are available to choose from. End the day at the bar, listening to the many incredible stories Faan has to tell before sitting down to a 3-course meal by the fire.
